February 27, 2021 Dear Friends, I am so pleased to have you join us for our Virtual Ruby Slippers Gala: There’s No Place Like Home – in the comfort of your own home! We have an exciting program planned for you tonight and incorporated some new features this year to make this evening memorable. Be sure to tune in early to view the art works and poetry submitted by families and friends of Hope Solutions that answer the question “How Do You Know You Are Home?” We also have two beautiful musical performances arranged specifically for us tonight. And you are invited to take a photo to share your “Red Carpet” glamour or coziness with us all. We will have unique auction packages for you to bid on all week and you will hear from a man who has a career and a beautiful family because of the help he has received from Hope Solutions – a direct result of support from friends like you. He has not necessarily overcome all the hardships and obstacles but has learned to manage them and is living a life filled with triumph and hope. Many of our residents have similar narratives and are living proof that the powerful impact of stability, housing, and unrelenting support can transform a person’s or family’s life. Additionally, you will hear from some special guests and we are delighted to present the Children’s Choice Award to Roderick Norris for his generosity of time and spirit to the young people in our Youth and Young Adult Program. Tonight’s Ruby Slippers Virtual Gala would not be possible without the help from our dedicated Ruby Slippers committee, our tremendous staff, and passionate board of directors. Please support the businesses that have sponsored us and those that donated auction items. During these challenging times and always, it is important to support the businesses and individuals that help us do our work. And a big thank you to YOU for being here to celebrate with us this evening. Since 1997, Hope Solutions’ evidence-based model of permanent housing and comprehensive support services have consistently achieved dramatic results in improving the outcomes of the most vulnerable populations in our community. Our next objective is to expand our impact and to continue to respond to the increasing needs for permanent affordable housing. Tonight, you can help us do our work by contributing in a variety of ways – bidding on auction items, generously donating to our Fund-A-Need, and inviting others to join you in supporting our work. We are thrilled you have tuned in to celebrate this very special evening with us. Please enjoy Ruby Slippers: There’s No Place Like Home and help end homelessness in Contra Costa County together! With gratitude, Deanne Pearn Executive Director
